Obligated to be given before the Eid prayer, Zakat Al-Fitr is part of the Ramadan fasting tradition, and is a required donation that must to be paid on behalf of every member in your household.
You can help to feed hundreds of thousands of needy people in places like Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, Iraq and Ethiopia.
There are many more people in need of your support around the world.
If Zakat Al-Fitr is not paid by the time of Eid prayer, it will be considered as Sadaqat Al-Fitr (charity) as opposed to Zakat Al-Fitr.
Life recommends $12 per family member, which is about the equivalent of a complete iftar meal.
Please check with your Masjid for the correct amount you are required to give per person during Ramadan.
